Welcome to Fashion and Fernweh! I love fashion, travel, and the two cities I currently alternate between: New York City & D.C.

Louis Vuitton & Faux Fur Vests

Louis Vuitton & Faux Fur Vests

If you read Monday’s post then you already know the Louis Vuitton ‘Volez, Voquez, Voyagez’ exhibit has been on my radar. Yesterday, my friend Becca texted me saying she wanted to go and we had been planning on hanging out anyways so we figured it was a prime opportunity to check it out. We reserved tickets online (it’s free and you can do it up to an hour before the event) but when we got there we didn’t even need them because there was no line. We got really lucky with the timing but I recommend reserving tickets just to be safe.

The exhibit itself was very cool. In the first room, you could read the story of the founder, Louis Vuitton. His design for the first trunk was all about functionality and mobility. As the times adapted, and driving, trains and flying became more popular, so did LV luggage. We got to see a ton of different designs, including very, very old trunks, and see how they were built to hold the different styles of the time.

One of my favorite rooms though was (of course) the fashion one. It featured Louis Vuitton designs celebrities wore on the red carpet, including a dress worn by Emma Stone and Taylor Swift’s Met Gala dress. They also showcased a few of their collaborations, including one I didn't even know existed! The pumpkin and bag designs are from a collaboration with Yayoi Kusama, who created the Infinity Mirrors exhibit (which was the topic my first blog post!)

At the end of the exhibit, they had two employees from different parts of the world showing guests how they make their infamous products. A woman from Norway literally sits and paints the color on the side of every luggage tag they produce. Insane.

It was definitely worth checking out and we loved it. Go with someone who’ll appreciate it as much as you do so you don’t feel like you have to rush through it and try to go at an off-peak time (we went at 4:30 on Tuesday) to make the most of the experience!

Faux Fur Vest

I had to mention the fur vest because they’re all over the place right now but I love them. I got this one a year or two ago at Bloomingdales but I love wearing it with all black. It’s a light purple to black ombre and so fun to dress up an outfit. Mine isn’t available anymore, but I linked a few solid color options below!

Outfit: vest: Vince Camuto, similar - on sale!, similar in grey, an ombre option; sweater: LF; jeans: Carmar Denim (similar); shoes: Sam Edelman; bag: Longchamp
